Android One is heading to the US
Google’s Android One platform was launched back in 2014
to provide affordable smartphones to developing markets without the
bloatware that usually goes hand-by-hand with low-cost devices.
Android One historically been produced by reasonably minor companies such as Micromax, Cherry and QMobile. Over time the platform became more flexible and expanded beyond India to parts of Africa, Turkey, Spain and Portugal.
Google made a strong statement in the high-end market with the Google Pixel.
But the results at the other end of the smartphone spectrum aren’t
great and many expected that the search giant will pull the plug on the
One program. As it turns out the company is actually looking to expand
its reach and the US is going to be the next market to get it.
Sources say that it is highly unlikely Google to start producing Android One phones on its own for the US. LG is the most probable manufacturer but allegedly there are other options as well. The phones are reportedly due “before the middle of the year” so likely in Q2, but no further specifics were provided.

Sony G3221 passes through AnTuTu, will have 23MP + 16MP cameras
User agent profiles showed that Sony’s upcoming G3221 will sport a Helio P20 chipset and now an AnTuTu screenshot offers some additional details.
The chipset will be paired with a hearty 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage and will run Android 7.0 Nougat at launch. The Sony G3221 also sports a 23MP main camera and a 16MP selfie cam, plus a 1080p screen.
The Xperia M5, which launched in mid-2015 had similar specs (except it was powered by a Helio X10), perhaps we’re looking at a successor.

Sony to reveal new phones on February 27 at MWC
We’ve been hearing rumors about alleged Xperia devices but Sony is
keeping its lips tight about any releases and launches. We knew the
company will have a press conference at MWC in Barcelona next month and
now we have an exact date for that. The press invite says February 27,
7:30 GMT.
We are expecting to hear more about the alleged Sony Xperia XA successor which we saw earlier in renders. We’ve seen front panel leaks and press images of other devices, but we are yet to see if all of them will go official or some will have to wait until IFA in September.
The GSMArena team will be on site in Barcelona so put the date in the diary and stand by for some exclusive info.
